In some cases, it always advisable to stop the intake of some medicines gradually because of the rebound effect of the medicine.
It's wise to get in touch with your doctor as a professional advice is needed in this case regarding your health, medications and further recommendation to give you a stable health condition.
You should not use this medication if you are allergic to it, or if you have severely low white blood cell counts.
If you have any of these other conditions, you may need a dose adjustment or special tests to safely use this medication:
liver disease;
bone marrow suppression;
a nerve disorder; or
if you have received radiation therapy or other cancer treatments.
FDA pregnancy category D. Vinelbine can cause harm to an unborn baby or cause birth defects. Before you receive Vinelbine, tell your doctor if you are pregnant. Use an effective form of birth control, and tell your doctor if you become pregnant during treatment.
It is not known whether Vinelbine passes into breast milk or if it could harm a nursing baby. You should not breast-feed while you are being treated with Vinelbine.
You should not use this medication if you are allergic to it, or if you have severely low white blood cell counts.
Do not use Vinelbine if you are pregnant. It could harm the unborn baby. Use effective birth control, and tell your doctor if you become pregnant during treatment.
Before you receive Vinelbine, tell your doctor if you have liver disease, bone marrow suppression, a nerve disorder, or if you have received radiation therapy or other cancer treatments.
Vinelbine is sometimes used in combination with other cancer medications.
Tell your caregivers if you feel any burning, pain, or swelling around the IV needle when Vinelbine is injected.
Vinelbine can lower blood cells that help your body fight infections. Avoid being near people who have colds, the flu, or other contagious illnesses. Your blood will need to be tested on a regular basis. Do not miss any scheduled appointments. Contact your doctor at once if you develop signs of infection.
Do not receive a "live" vaccine while you are being treated with Vinelbine, and avoid coming into contact with anyone who has recently received a live vaccine. There is a chance that the virus could be passed on to you.
Tell your doctor about all other medications you use, especially:
conivaptan;
diclofenac;
imatinib;
isoniazid (for treating tuberculosis);
an antibiotic such as clarithromycin, dalfopristin/quinupristin, erythromycin, or telithromycin;
antifungal medication such as clotrimazole, itraconazole, ketoconazole, or voriconazole;
an antidepressant such as nefazodone;
heart or blood pressure medication such as diltiazem, felodipine, nifedipine, verapamil and others;
cancer medicines such as cisplatin, carboplatin, mitomycin, or oxaliplatin;
HIV/AIDS medicine such as atazanavir, delavirdine, fosamprenavir, indinavir, nelfinavir, saquinavir or ritonavir (Norvir).
This list is not complete and there may be other drugs that can interact with Vinelbine. Tell your doctor about all your prescription and over-the-counter medications, vitamins, minerals, herbal products, and drugs prescribed by other doctors. Do not start a new medication without telling your doctor.
