Fulcinex is an antifungal medication that fights infections caused by fungus. Fulcinex is used to treat infections such as ringworm, athlete's foot, jock itch, and Fulcinex infections of the scalp, fingernails, or toenails. Fulcinex may also be used for purposes not listed in Fulcinex guide.
Fulcinex side effects
Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficult breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat. Call your doctor at once if you have:
fever, chills, flu symptoms, white patches or sores inside your mouth or on your lips;
confusion, trouble with daily activities;
liver problems--nausea, upper stomach pain, itching, tired feeling, loss of appetite, dark urine, clay-colored stools, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes);
lupus-like syndrome--joint pain or swelling with fever, swollen glands, muscle aches, chest pain, vomiting, unusual thoughts or behavior, and patchy skin color; or
severe skin reaction--fever, sore throat, swelling in your face or tongue, burning in your eyes, skin pain, followed by a red or purple skin rash that spreads (especially in the face or upper body) and causes blistering and peeling.
Common side effects may include:
nausea, vomiting, upset stomach, diarrhea;
headache, tired feeling;
sleep problems (insomnia); or
itching, rash.

Can Fulcinex be stopped immediately or do I have to stop the consumption gradually to ween off?

How should I take Fulcinex?
Follow all directions on your prescription label. Do not take this medicine in larger or smaller amounts or for longer than recommended.
Shake the oral suspension (liquid) well just before you measure a dose. Measure liquid medicine with the dosing syringe provided, or with a special dose-measuring spoon or medicine cup. If you do not have a dose-measuring device, ask your pharmacist for one.
To make swallowing easier, you may crush the Gris-PEG tablet and sprinkle the medicine into a spoonful of applesauce. Swallow right away without chewing. Do not save the mixture for later use.
Use this medicine for the full prescribed length of time. It may take up several weeks before your symptoms improve. Nail infections can take several months to clear completely.
Fulcinex will not treat a bacterial or Fulcinex infection, or a viral infection such as the flu or a common cold.
If you use this medicine long-term, you may need frequent medical tests at your doctor's office.
Store at room temperature away from moisture, heat, and light.
Who should not take Fulcinex?
You should not use Fulcinex if you are allergic to it, or if you have:
liver failure;
porphyria ; or
if you are pregnant or may become pregnant.
To make sure Fulcinex is safe for you, tell your doctor if you have:
liver disease;
lupus;
an allergy to penicillin; or
if you take a blood thinner such as warfarin (Coumadin, Jantoven).
FDA pregnancy category X. This medicine can harm an unborn baby or cause birth defects. Do not use Fulcinex if you are pregnant. Tell your doctor right away if you become pregnant during treatment.
Fulcinex may make birth control pills less effective. Ask your doctor about using non hormonal birth control (condom, diaphragm with spermicide) to prevent pregnancy while taking Fulcinex.
It is not known whether Fulcinex passes into breast milk or if it could harm a nursing baby. Tell your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby.
Fulcinex should not be given to a child younger than 2 years old, or a child who weighs less than 35 pounds.
What other drugs will affect Fulcinex?
Other drugs may interact with Fulcinex, including prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal products. Tell each of your health care providers about all medicines you use now and any medicine you start or stop using.
