EES indications
EES is a macrolide antibiotic, prescribed for bacterial infections.
EES contraindication
Contraindicated in patients who are taking terfenadine, astemizole, pimozide, or cisapride and with known hypersensitivity.
EES dosage
Adults – PO- 400 mg erythromycin ethylsuccinate every 6 hours is the usual dose.
EES usage
It comes as a suspension to take by mouth, with or without food.

Caution should be exercised in patients with history of heart, kidney or liver disease; irregular heartbeat, low blood potassium or magnesium levels; myasthenia gravis, porphyria, diarrhea, who are taking other medications, any allergy, elderly, during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Avoid long-term use of EES; otherwise it may cause secondary infection. Monitor liver function, kidney function, and complete blood cell counts regularly while taking EES. Use only for bacterial infections and not for viral infection.
EES side effects
Gastrointestinal- Nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea and loss of appetite. Liver - Liver inflammation, liver dysfunction and/or abnormal liver function.
