Bacitracin (Coban) injection is an antibiotic that treats staph infection caused by a bacteria called staphylococcus (STAF-il-oh-KOK-us). Bacitracin (Coban) injection is used in infants to treat pneumonia. It is also used to treat an infection that causes pus to build up between the lungs and the membrane that covers them. Bacitracin (Coban) injection may also be used for purposes not listed in Bacitracin (Coban) guide.
How is Bacitracin injection given?
Bacitracin (Coban) is injected into a muscle. A healthcare provider will give your baby this injection. Lung infections in infants are serious conditions, and your baby will most likely be kept in the hospital while being treated with Bacitracin (Coban) injection. While receiving Bacitracin (Coban), your baby's kidney function will need to be tested daily. Make sure your baby receives this medicine for the full prescribed length of time. Symptoms may improve before the infection is completely cleared. Skipping doses may also increase the risk of further infection that is resistant to antibiotics. Bacitracin (Coban) will not treat a viral infection such as the flu or a common cold.
Bacitracin (Coban) side effects
Get emergency medical help if your baby has any of these signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficult breathing; swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat. While receiving Bacitracin (Coban) injection, your baby will be watched for the following side effects:

urinating more than usual or more often;
little or no urinating (fewer wet diapers);
blood in the urine;
lower back pain; or
painful urination.
Common side effects include:
nausea, vomiting;

Lincomycin (Coban)
What is Lincomycin (Coban)
Lincomycin (Coban) is an antibiotic that fights bacteria. Lincomycin (Coban) is used to treat severe bacterial infections in people who cannot use penicillin antibiotics. Lincomycin (Coban) is used only for a severe infection. This medicine will not treat a viral infection such as the common cold or flu. Lincomycin (Coban) may also be used for purposes not listed in Lincomycin (Coban) guide.
How is Lincomycin given?
Lincomycin (Coban) is injected into a muscle, or into a vein through an IV. You may be shown how to use an IV at home. Do not self-inject this medicine if you do not understand how to give the injection and properly dispose of used needles, IV tubing, and other items used to inject the medicine. Lincomycin (Coban) is usually given every 12 to 24 hours. Follow your doctor's instructions. Use a disposable needle only once, then throw away in a puncture-proof container (ask your pharmacist where you can get one and how to dispose of it). Keep this container out of the reach of children and pets. Use Lincomycin (Coban) for the full prescribed length of time. Your symptoms may improve before the infection is completely cleared. Skipping doses may also increase your risk of further infection that is resistant to antibiotics. Call your doctor at the first sign of diarrhea during and shortly after your treatment with Lincomycin (Coban). If you use Lincomycin (Coban) long-term, you may need frequent medical tests at your doctor's office. Your kidney and liver function may also need to be checked. If you store Lincomycin (Coban) at home, keep at room temperature away from moisture and heat.
