Amira indications

Amira is a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI), prescribed for depression and social anxiety. It blocks the action of monoamine oxidase (MAO) in the nervous system.

Amira contraindication

Contraindicated in patients with acute confusional states, patients under 18 years of age, concomitant use with Tricyclic antidepressants, selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, other MAOIs, thioridazine, meperidine and hypersensitivity.

Amira dosage

Oral: Adults-The recommended initial dose is 150 milligrams (mg) two times a day. Maximum: 600 mg.

Amira usage

It comes as a tablet to take by mouth, with food.

Amira precautions

Caution should be exercised in patients with history of kidney problems, liver disease, thyroid disease, high blood pressure, any allergy, suicidal thoughts, neuroendocrine tumor, over active thyroid, during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
It may cause dizziness or drowsiness, do not drive a car or operate machinery while taking Amira.
Avoid alcohol consumption.

Amira side effects

Most Common- Dry mouth, headache, sleeplessness, nausea, dizziness, tremor, agitation, restlessness, constipation, fast heart rate, sleepiness and low blood pressure.
Central Nervous System- Anxiety, weakness, fainting and irritability.
Gastrointestinal- Gastrointestinal pain, stomach discomfort, diarrhea, abdominal pain and vomiting.
Genitourinary- Painful urination, urinary urgency, irregular periods and prolonged menstruation.
Heart- Irregular heartbeats and high blood pressure.
Miscellaneous- Blurred vision, bleeding in gums, skin rash, hives, itching and swelling.

Patient may develop with increased risk of suicidal thoughts, mental changes, if it so consult with your doctor.
