What is Alco

Relieving nasal congestion due to colds, flu, hay fever, and other allergies. It may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.
Alco is a decongestant. It works by reducing swelling and constricting blood vessels in the nasal passages, allowing you to breathe more easily.

Important safety information:

Alco may cause dizziness. This effect may be worse if you take it with alcohol or certain medicines. Use Alco with caution. Do not drive or perform other possibly unsafe tasks until you know how you react to it.
Check with your doctor before you drink alcohol while you are using Alco.
If your symptoms do not get better within 7 days, if they get worse, or if they occur along with a fever, check with your doctor.
Do NOT take more than the recommended dose or take for longer than prescribed without checking with your doctor.
If you have trouble sleeping, ask your pharmacist or doctor about the best time of the day to take Alco.
Do not take diet or appetite control medicines while you are taking Alco without checking with your doctor.
Alco is a decongestant. Before you start any new medicine, check the label to see if it has a decongestant in it too. If it does or if you are not sure, check with your doctor or pharmacist.
Alco may interfere with certain lab tests. Be sure your doctor and lab personnel know that you are taking Alco.
Tell your doctor or dentist that you take Alco before you receive any medical or dental care, emergency care, or surgery.
Diabetes patients - Alco may affect your blood sugar. Check blood sugar levels closely. Ask your doctor before you change the dose of your diabetes medicine.
Use Alco with caution in the ELDERLY; they may be more sensitive to its effects.
Alco should not be used in CHILDREN younger than 6 years old without first checking with the child's doctor; safety and effectiveness in these children have not been confirmed.
PREGNANCY and BREAST-FEEDING: If you become pregnant, Alco your doctor. You will need to discuss the benefits and risks of using Alco while you are pregnant. It is not known if Alco is found in breast milk. Do not breast-feed while taking Alco.

Alco side effects

How should I take Alco?

Beta-blockers (eg, propranolol), furazolidone, linezolid, MAOIs (eg, phenelzine), tricyclic antidepressants (eg, amitriptyline), or urinary alkalinizers (eg, sodium bicarbonate) because they may increase the risk of pseudoephedrine's side effects
Bromocriptine because the risk of its side effects may be increased by Alco
Guanadrel, guanethidine, mecamylamine, methyldopa, or reserpine because their effectiveness may be decreased by Alco
